Upcycling: Furniture from Skis

Join visiting artist, Angus Gorman, and Mr. Smith in a double-block workshop constructing adirondack chairs and tables out of old skis. Students participating in this project will learn to use numerous power tools in the process of cutting and prepping the skis. Each ski piece will be carefully measured, cut, grinded, drilled, and countersunk to create the various pieces that we will construct as a group into polished furniture pieces. The finished furniture will then be put out for public use somewhere on campus.

Mr. Gorman is a New Hampshire native, wood worker, upcycler, and man of many talents. After spending nearly 15 years as a bike builder and repairman, he has recently founded his own wood working company, Open Woods, constructing everything from custom furniture to multistory buildings!

This is a double block workshop:  sign up for this workshop for both the Morning and the Afternoon sessions.
